Thomas Allen,
Ph.D.
Dr. Allen
is the Founder and Director of Pathways. He
received his PhD from the State University of New
York at Buffalo. Dr. Allen has worked in a variety
of settings including hospitals, schools, and
private practice. He works with children,
adolescents, couples and families. Dr. Allen has
been asked to speak in the community on topics such
as: positive youth sports, bullying prevention,
ADHD, social skill development and managing emotions
in the classroom. Specialties include: childhood
anxiety, adolescent issues, social skill
development, and sport psychology. |

Brian D. Fay, LCSW
Brian received his Masters
Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University
of Connecticut in 1994. Prior to joining Pathways,
Brian was a Behavioral Health Administrator at Saint
Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford,
CT. Brian has also provided direct patient care
throughout his time as an administrator. Brian
works primarily with adolescents and adults.
Specialties include: Depression, anxiety, stress
management, gay/lesbian issues, increasing
self-worth, and substance recovery issues. |

Christine Migdole, LCSW
Christine received her
Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons College.
She completed two post graduate fellowships at Yale
Psychiatric Institute in adolescent and adult
psychiatric and substance abuse services.
Prior to joining Pathways, she served as
clinical
director
at an adolescent residential treatment facility.
Specialties include:
anxiety
disorders, trauma,
substance abuse/addictive disorders,
and cognitive and
dialectical behavioral therapies.

Suzanne D.
Pascoe, LPC Suzanne received her Masters in
Education, Counseling (M.Ed.) from George Mason
University. Prior to entering private practice she
has worked with children and their families in the
Community Agency setting for over 18 years. Suzanne
has also provided counseling services to middle
school students in the school environment, while
additionally serving as a resource to parents and
teachers. Suzanne works with children, adolescents
and adults. Specialties include; depression and
anxiety, self -esteem, social/ emotional and
adjustment issues, as well as family communication. |

Nancy C. Lucas, MS, LCSW
Nancy received an MS in Counseling
& Gerontology from Springfield College and her MSW
from Smith College. She has 20 years of experience
working with families and individuals of all ages in
many settings which include: home-based, inpatient,
outpatient, and private practice. Nancy works with
children; ages 12 and over, adolescents, individuals,
couples and families. Specialties include:
Adolescent issues, geriatric and “Sandwich
Generation” issues, gay/lesbian/trans-gendered
issues, marital counseling, depression and anxiety.

Diana E.
Johnson, APRN
Diana received her Masters of
Science in Nursing from Yale
University specializing in child
and adolescent psychiatric mental health. She has
experience in both inpatient hospital and outpatient
clinic settings as well as having a medical
background. Her specialties include anxiety, depression,
gay/lesbian issues, social or behavioral issues, and adjustment
issues related to medical diagnoses. Diana works
with older children adolescents and adults.

Cara E. Barbierri, Psy.D.
Dr. Barbierri has expertise in
providing individualized services to children,
adolescents, and families. Her specialties include
depression and anxiety, behavioral problems
impacting school functioning and peer relationships,
family dysfunction, developmental disabilities
including autism spectrum disorders, and the
evaluation and treatment of young children. Dr. Barbierri received her doctoral degree from George
Washington University. Prior to joining Pathways,
she worked for several years within a child-focused
outpatient setting as a clinician and clinical
coordinator for group therapy and developmental
evaluation programs. She has experience in private
practice and is currently an adjunct professor of
child development at the University of Bridgeport.

Loren
Sterman, LCSW
Loren received her Masters
Degree in Social Work from Fordham University in
1999. She earned an interdisciplinary B.A. from
Skidmore College in Women’s Studies, Psychology and
Religion. For ten years prior to joining Pathways,
Loren was the School Social Worker and Wellness
Instructor at The Williams School, an independent
day school for students in the 7th-12th grade in New
London, CT. and has worked with all populations in
private practice, as well. Loren is
chairperson of the Community Coalition for Children,
serving students and their parents in Southeastern
CT addressing such issues as substance abuse
prevention and fostering resiliency in young people.
Specialties include: stress
management, anxiety, depression, ADHD, parenting
challenges, relationship issues, managing
transitions and school functioning. In addition to
traditional therapeutic methods, she is experienced
in merging in such therapeutic interventions as
biofeedback, neurofeedback, hypnotherapy and animal
assisted therapies. |

Ellen H.
Pfarr, LCSW
Ellen received
her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from
Fordham University. Prior to
joining Pathways, Ellen served for ten years as a
clinical coordinator of a residential facility for
young children, which focused on trauma informed
care. Her earlier career was
within the public/private sector, with a focus on
home-based services to children and families.
Ellen works with children, adolescents,
individuals, couples and families.
Specialties include relationship issues,
parenting and child behavioral issues, life
transitions, and loss and grief.

Alison
Thurber, LCSW
Alison earned her MSW from
Smith College and has practiced in a variety of
therapeutic settings including an
intensive-outpatient hospital unit, school-bases
services, and outpatient mental health clinics.
Alison is particularly committed to working with
adolescents and families, aiming to promote feelings
of self-worth and self-efficacy while developing
more effective means of communication within the
family system. Areas of interest include:
Adolescent development, GLBTQ issues, couples
counseling, depression, and anxiety. Alison is
currently the program manager for Emergency Mobile
Psychiatric Services at Clifford Beers Child
Guidance Clinic in New Haven.

Lisa
Tonnessen, PhD., LPC
Dr.
Tonnessen is a Counseling Psychologist and a
Licensed Professional Counselor with over fifteen
years experience in the helping profession.
She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from
the University of Connecticut. She has been
working in private practice for over ten years.
Dr.
Tonnessen offers individual, couples, and family
counseling for the treatment of anxiety, depression,
life transitions and adjustments, eating disorders,
marital conflict/communication issues, parenting
support, family issues, self esteem building and
stress management.
She
provided a supportive, non-judgmental environment
for children, adolescents and adults. The goal
of therapy is to help clients achieve personal
happiness using solution focused treatment model.
Dr. Tonnessen will help you reach your personal
goals through a reflective, client centered approach
to healing.

Mari-Jo
MacInnis, LMFT
Mari-Jo received her Masters
Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central
Connecticut State University. She is also a
certified school counselor in Connecticut.
Mari-Jo has worked in a variety of settings
including schools, private practices and community
service agencies. Mari-Jo services children,
adolescents, adults and families. Her
specialties include anxiety, depression, self-esteem
issues, social issues and adjustment issues.

Elaine Murphy,
Office Manager
Elaine is an invaluable resource
to our patients and staff. She handles issues
pertaining to scheduling, claim submission, billing
and many other business related matters.
